CiteBridge — Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 11, 2026

CiteBridge is a Chrome extension by DeonResearch that exports the citations of the Perplexity thread you are viewing into Zotero, BibTeX or RIS. It is designed so that your data stays yours.

What we collect

Nothing. CiteBridge has no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking pixels and no advertising. We do not collect, store, sell or share any personal information or browsing data.

What stays on your device

Your preferences and your Pro license state are stored locally in your browser's extension storage (synced across your own Chrome profile by Chrome itself, if you use Chrome sync). Extracted citations are processed in memory and are never sent to us.

Network requests the extension makes

• Crossref (api.crossref.org) and OpenAlex (api.openalex.org): to verify citation metadata, CiteBridge sends the DOI or title of the cited sources to these public scholarly APIs. These requests contain no personal information.
• Polar (api.polar.sh): if you buy Pro, your license key is sent to Polar (our merchant of record) to activate and periodically validate it. Payments are processed entirely by Polar; we never see your payment details. See Polar's privacy policy.
• Your local Zotero (127.0.0.1:23119): if you use "Push to Zotero", items are sent to the Zotero desktop app running on your own computer. This traffic never leaves your machine.

Permissions

CiteBridge reads the page content only on www.perplexity.ai, only to extract the citation list of the thread you are viewing, and only when you click the extension. The downloads permission is used solely to save the .bib/.ris files you export.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be published at this URL with an updated effective date. Material changes will be noted in the extension's changelog.
